Darren Adams

What is your name?

Darren Adams

What is your position within Manchester Pride?

Deputy Festival Director

When did you first start working for Manchester Pride?

January 2008

Where have you worked previously?

I have worked in Theatre & Events Management for a number of years, on both a freelance basis and at venues such as The Lowry, Leeds Grand Theatre and The Palace Theatre Manchester. I also run an independent production company staging theatre and comedy events.

What are your hopes for this years Manchester Pride?

I have been attending Manchester Pride since 1999 and every year the event has evolved, providing an exciting programme of events and activities, of which I am very proud to be involved with. I hope we can expand the events in the run up to the Big Weekend as it's great to experience the wide range of groups in our community and show what Manchester is made of.

Why is Manchester Pride so important?

Manchester Pride is fantastic to show the diversity and inclusivity of the city, whilst raising funds for a number of organisations and charities. These funds are really vital, especially in this financial climate, in providing services to our community and helping with ongoing costs in the many LGBT groups.

What’s the worst thing you’ve had to do for Pride?

Having my photo taken with the Selfridges boys in their swimwear!

Best Pride moment?

Has to be seeing Frankmusik last year on the Main Stage, the whole site had such an electric atmosphere. Roisin Murphy in 2008 was also fantastic. I really enjoyed the Amnesty International event last year as well.
