What is your name?

Nicola Fisher

What is your position within Manchester Pride?

Festival Coordinator

When did you first start working for Pride?

January 2009

Where have you worked previously?

Since finishing university, I’ve worked with a Citizens Advice Bureau in Manchester before joining Manchester Pride on a part time basis.

What are your hopes for this year’s Manchester Pride?

For more fantastic community based events in the run up and during the weekend itself. Before I started working with Manchester Pride, I didn’t realise just how many LGBT groups there are around Manchester. It’s great to get involved with them and highlight what they do but also to raise money over the Big Weekend to support them financially as well.

Why is Manchester Pride so important?

To celebrate the diversity of the LGBT community, to bring communities together and to challenge and raise awareness of discrimination still present across the UK.

What’s the worst thing you’ve had to do for Pride?

There's nothing really. It’s a fantastic festival and we have a great team who I enjoy working with.

Best Pride moment?

Walking through the site for the first time ever! The incredible buzz over the Big Weekend of thousands of people coming together from all over the country, able to be themselves and celebrate LGBT life.
