Ok, before you get in a panic, it’s not leaving Manchester behind. What I’m doing is looking at other Prides that are coming up in the next few months. Think of this as a Judith Chalmers report.

Sydney Pride has already kicked off, so unless you’re super quick you may miss it. I’ve never been, but I have friends that have been and they’ve told me that it’s a great event and the sunshine is a bonus! This year there is an evening with Armisted Maupin, a film festival and featuring performances by Calvin Harris and Frankie Knuckles.

A little closer to home is Brighton’s Winter Pride running from 5th-13th March, they also run a summer event between 6th – 14th August.

June is a busy month with, Barcelona (19th-27th), San Francisco (25th-26th) and London (17th-3rdJuly) all playing host. I’ve been to all three cities (not for Pride) and I’m sure they will produce fantastic events. If I was to pick one to go back to it would be San Francisco (hint hint to anyone who wants to send or take me).

August sees the arrival of Amsterdam’s Pride event (4th-7th) which is easily accessible from Manchester! Their parade is completely different to anyone else’s as it travels down the canal rather than on the streets.

Speaking of August and canals, it leads me nicely to our very own Manchester Pride. With only 6 months to wait the 10 day celebration of the LGBT community will be kicking off and this year is extra special as it turns 21.

So from Manchester, good luck and best wishes to; Sydney, Brighton, Barcelona, San Francisco, London and Amsterdam!
