Manchester Pride Parade 2009

charity fundraising

Manchester Pride has traditionally been a fundraiser for local HIV and LGBT communities and is the only Pride event in the UK which has consistently done so.

These pages are dedicated to the people that you've helped over the years.

Is it a fundraising event?

Since 2003, Manchester Pride has raised over £780,000 and, in 2009, Pride raised the most amount of money in it's history; £135,000! This money is split equally between the LGF Condom and Lube Scheme, the GHT Welfare Fund, the Pride Community Grant and the Pride HIV Fund.

For a full breakdown of where the charity money comes from, please visit the financial breakdown page.

By giving your support to Manchester Pride, you're helping a great range of charities and community groups around Greater Manchester. Many couldn't exist without your contributions from attending the Big Weekend and by giving to the donation buckets through the year. On behalf of the people and communities that you've helped, we'd like to thank you.

Where does the money go?

The money is split equally (£33,750 each) between the following four schemes.

The Lesbian and Gay Foundation Condom and Lube Scheme
The long-running scheme provides free packs of condoms and lube which are then distributed in hundreds of locations across Greater Manchester. The packs also contain important information about safer sex, sexual wellbeing and HIV

George House Trust Welfare Fund

The fund provides a payment to anyone living in the North West who is HIV positive and in financial hardship. It helps contribute towards improving the quality of life of the person requesting the payment.

Manchester Pride Community Grant

Grants of up to £1000 are available to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender groups and organisations across Greater Manchester to support new or expansion of projects or ongoing service delivery costs.

Manchester Pride HIV Fund
The fund supports several local HIV Charities in delivering a variety of projects to those living with or affected by HIV. We will be updating this page with information soon.
