Youth Pride MCR

A 4-week Creative Confidence Course for LGBTQ+ Youth & Allies

What is it?

A welcoming, pressure‑free space to explore drag, build confidence, meet like‑minded young LGBTQ+ people (and allies!), and express yourself with no expectation to perform unless you want to. Perfect for anyone curious about creative self‑expression.

Why it matters now
In an increasingly hostile anti‑queer landscape, this course offers vital support. You’ll find safety, solidarity, and community.

Weekly breakdown

1. Persona & Identity

Discover your drag persona: have fun with names, characters, identities. Build a sense of self that’s bold, real, and unapologetic.

2. Makeup & Styling
Get hands‑on with face charts, bold colours, blending, contouring and learn the finishing touches that make drag magic happen.

3. Costume & Gender Expression
Tap into styling and gender‑affirming fashion: pairing outfits, playing with binders, padding, accessories discover what feels good for you.

4. Performance & Stage Presence
Learn lip‑sync techniques, movement, storytelling and overcome nerves. Show up as your bold self, in your own way.

5. Optional Performance Showcase
No pressure! But if you're ready, perform on the Alan Turing Stage and at Youth Pride MCR events to friends, peers, and drag icons.
