I have been many times, I even wrote about my experience at Manchester pride in my autobiography! I was approached by the organisation and given Manchester is always my home regardless of where I happen to reside, I leapt at the chance to support the LGBT community in my home town.
That it continues to grow, marrying the atmosphere of the celebration it has always had with a spirit of community and belonging that extends beyond the LGBT community and radiates out into society at large, enhancing our visibility and supporting our advocates.
Manchester Pride, I have no idea when, years back...YEARS! My most memorable (and that's saying a lot since I have been grand marshal of several in the States) was Manchester Pride the year it was Europride. It was amazing.
I missed the last two years with work abroad, but I am truly looking forward to seeing how Manchester, not just the LGBT people, but the whole city, seems to celebrate. The parade is still my favourite part, watching the spectrum of LGBT people and their advocates go by while people from blue haired grandmas and young straight couples with families support and celebrate together.
