WHO WE ARE

Manchester Pride campaigns for the advancement of LGBT+ equality; celebrates LGBT+ life and creates opportunities that engage LGBT+ people so that they can thrive.

As one of the leading LGBT+ charities in the UK, our work aims to challenge discrimination in relation to homophobia, biphobia and transphobia and through our grant-giving, we support, enrich and empower LGBT+ community groups, events and causes in Greater Manchester.

We fundraise by staging a number of events throughout the year, including the award winning Manchester Pride Festival, The Manchester Pride Spring Benefit, events recognising International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) and our year-round programme of culture, Superbia.

Since 2003, we have raised and distributed over £1.5million.

SOMETHING NEW IS COMING...

Manchester Pride has confirmed its annual August bank holiday festival will go ahead in 2019, but will look and feel radically different to previous years.

The four day event, known as The Big Weekend, has been around for more than 25 years. Over this time it has been known by various names including Pride, Mardi Gras and The Big Weekend and it has traditionally taken place only in Manchester’s historical gay village around Canal Street.

However, significant property development in the area, including a substantial risk of development on the Sackville Street car park which currently houses the Main Stage, means there won’t be the space next year to deliver the celebration in the same way it has always been.

HAVE YOUR SAY

As we take on the challenge of reincarnating the festival we will provide an opportunity for Manchester’s LGBT+ people to tell us what they want from their festival in 2019.

If you were unable to attend our public consultation evening, you can still have your say by completing a questionnaire that we have prepared.
