Manchester Pride
The Highlight of our Summer
Manchester Pride has announced the dates and venues for the first two Community Engagement meetings, to be held at the Fusilier Museum, Bury and the Waterside Arts Centre, Sale.
John Stewart, Chief Executive of Manchester Pride said “These meetings will give an opportunity to outline the changes to Pride’s organisation, highlight our charitable work and how people can get involved with this year’s festival. It will also be a chance for people to ask questions and give feedback about Manchester Pride.”
The first meeting will be hosted by Bury Council on 17th May at 7.00pm, in the Fusilier Museum, and be chaired by Cllr Trevor Holt, Executive Member for HR and Performance. The second meeting will be hosted by Trafford Council on 24th May at 4.00 pm, at the Waterside Arts Centre, Sale. Further meetings will be announced as dates and venues are fixed.
The Manchester Pride festival runs from 17th-27th August 2012 and raises vital funds for LGBT and HIV charities and community groups in Greater Manchester. Last year, the charity distributed £105,000 to projects including the Albert Kennedy Purple Door scheme, which aims to provide emergency housing for young LGBT people. Along with larger projects, the charity also provides grants for small organisations and groups, such as Transforum, Queer Youth Network and the Lesbian Community Project.
