Who organises Manchester Pride?

A Festival Manager is employed to produce the event, and lead a team to co-ordinate the event management, marketing and entertainment for the festival.

Festival Manager - Jackie Crozier
Jackie is responsible for the creative direction and strategic management of Manchester Pride. Jackie is directly responsible for the recruitment and management of volunteers and first point of contact for community groups, parade, lifestyle expo and market participants. Other responsibilities including programming of the Big Weekend entertainment, development of the 10 day festival and liaising with key partners to deliver a safe and successful event.

Deputy Festival Manager - Darren Adams
Darren is responsible for managing Manchester Prides finances including budgets and charity management. Darren liaises with all businesses and residents within the event site with regard to accreditation requirements and also manages the sales of tickets throughout the village outlets. Other duties include the preparation of funding bids and maximising fundraising and sponsorship opportunities.

Consultation also takes place with community organisations through monthly Stakeholder meetings involving representatives from LGBT youth groups, sports clubs, health organsiations, arts groups etc.

Positive partnerships developed with other agencies including the Greater Manchester Police, Ear to the Ground and Nine Lives Productions (event management for the Big Weekend), Greater Manchester Fire Service, Greater Manchester Ambulance Service and St John’s Ambulance are integral to the success of the event.

How is Manchester Pride paid for?

Manchester Pride is paid for through a number of income sources:

  • ticket license agreement to ensure money is donated to charity
  • financial contributions from partners e.g. Marketing Manchester, Manchester City Council, the Village Business Association
  • sponsorship partnerships with local, national and international companies
  • grants from funding bodies e.g. North West Development Agency, Arts Council England North West
  • outdoor bar and food concessions
  • market stalls for commercial traders
  • lifestyle expo for groups
  • commercial parade entries
