Manchester Pride Festival 2021
We’re delighted to announce plans to host our world-class Manchester Pride Festival over the August Bank Holiday Weekend 2021. On 22nd February the UK Prime Minister outlined England's Roadmap out of lockdown, offering hope that live events will return this summer. This has put us in a position where we can work towards a plan that would see us come together and celebrate in person.
Our team has been working incredibly hard behind the scenes on a range of plans for this celebration of LGBTQ+ life in Greater Manchester. We can’t predict the future and we know that we could find ourselves in a situation in the coming months where we are unable to deliver an in-person festival. Should this be the case, we are prepared and we will revert to our secondary plans that would see us host an exciting, innovative celebration incorporating socially distanced events and digital elements.
Manchester Pride is proud to be part of a global Pride movement that celebrates advancements in equality and challenges discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ people, and we’re committed to improving the lives of LGBTQ+ people in Greater Manchester and beyond.
As both a charity and organisers of one of the UK’s largest Pride festivals, we’ve had to fight for our survival throughout 2020. We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support. We are working through an ever-changing situation, and appreciate your patience, flexibility and understanding as we work to bring to you an amazing celebration this summer. We know there’ll be lots of questions - you’ll find everything you need to know below

MCR Pride Live Capacity
We’ve listened to our ticket buyer’s feedback through both our Listening Groups and our market research. With the safety and wellbeing of our festival-goers, artists, stakeholders, team and everybody else involved in planning and delivering MCR Pride Live in mind, we are reducing this event’s capacity by 50% compared to the event in 2019. The next release of tickets will go on sale soon, and we are anticipating demand for these to be higher than ever.
We appreciate your patience, flexibility and understanding during an ever-changing situation. August Bank Holiday is still many months away and we are working towards the Festival taking place so that we can come together to celebrate in person. However, should this not be the case, all tickets will be automatically rolled over to 2022 and you’ll have your place guaranteed for next year. If you do not wish to roll forward your ticket, you will have the option for a refund of the face value of your ticket.
The safety and wellbeing of everyone at our events is always our top priority and this year will be no different. We understand that many people will be curious and anxious about how we will be managing COVID-19 safety. We are constantly developing and updating our policies and procedures in line with government guidance and advice, details of which will be communicated to ticket buyers before the event.
We are planning for every scenario and if we are unable to host Manchester Pride Festival 2021 in person, we will ensure that LGBTQ+ life in Greater Manchester can be celebrated through a digital Festival. In this case, all tickets will be automatically rolled over to 2022 and you’ll have your place guaranteed for next year. If you do not wish to roll forward your ticket, you will have the option for a refund of the face value of your ticket.
In 2020, we delivered our most diverse programme of events across our Alternative Manchester Pride Festival weekend which was enjoyed by over 114,000 people. Should we be unable to host an in person Festival in 2021, we can guarantee a bigger and better event that incorporates digital elements. We’ll be making sure that every strand of our festival still happens so you can celebrate Pride the way you want to.
