Special Guest Adam Lambert will perform at Manchester Pride Live!
Adam Lambert, who has today announced a Las Vegas residency and a European tour, including a stop at Manchester Pride Live, is the first artist to be announced for Mayfield and Manchester Pride Festival’s live music celebration.
Adam is a valued member of the LGBTQ+ community and a Grammy-nominated artist. He was recently nominated for a GLAAD Award, which recognises and honours various branches of the media for their outstanding representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender plus community and the issues that affect their lives. Adam is nominated in the Outstanding Music Artist category and the prestigious Awards take place in April. Perhaps even more impressive is that his second album Trespassing premiered at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 in 2012, making him the first openly gay artist to top the album charts.
Adam said: “I am so excited to perform at Manchester Pride for the very first time! Something I have always wanted to do! I keep hearing that LGBTQ + representation is on fire over there and I can’t wait to be part of it and see you soon!”
In November 2011, Lambert joined iconic British band Queen and has since toured the world as lead singer. Queen and Adam Lambert first performed together in 2009 when Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor appeared as guests on the eighth season of American Idol, on which Lambert was a contestant and eventual runner up.
Adam will perform at the two day event at Mayfield Depot on Sunday 30 August and we are delighted he has chosen not only Manchester, but Manchester Pride as his one of his two chosen UK destinations. This performance will mark the first time Adam has ever performed at a Pride event in the UK.
Manchester Pride Chief Executive, Mark Fletcher, said; “We are beyond thrilled that Adam has created a space in his tour to join in our celebrations of LGBTQ+ life in Manchester. As a charity that campaigns for LGBTQ+ equality all year round, it’s incredibly important to us that we showcase the breadth of LGBTQ+ artists who provide inspiration to all.
To have such an influential LGBTQ+ activist as Adam choose to perform at Manchester Pride Live is testament to the reputation that Manchester has as a leading City, worldwide in the advancement of LGBTQ+ equality.
Adam is the first of many more artist announcements to come. Watch this space for more great LGBTQ+ performers and allies when we release our line-up in February.”
Manchester Pride Festival in partnership with Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays, will return for another weekend of campaigning, celebrating and fundraising for LGBTQ+ life in Greater Manchester over the August Bank Holiday 2020.Click here to get your Manchester Pride Festival tickets now!
